Tuesday and Wednesday

Our first port of call was Ketchikan, Alaska. According to Rachel the saleswoman, we were to head straight to Diamonds International and design our jewelry which would be custom built for us that day! As luck would have it, Diamonds International used their initials on all their store fronts so their upscale showrooms simply became "D.I." to us. We weren't tempted.
Here we are on the boardwalk headed out for the day. It was cold and drizzly, but we bundled up and headed out.
The main historic part of town runs along this creek, and it called Creek Street. There are cute tourist stores now, but historically this was a fishing camp. The salmon run up this creek. We walked on a path beside the creek, through the woods on the other side of the creek. We went into the Totem Heritage Center, and Andrew was the only one brave enough to voice his opinion about the place. He hated it. So we left quickly.

Then we walked along through the town stopping at stores whenever we wanted. We hastily purchased an umbrella, and it served us well throughout the whole trip!

On Wednesday morning, we cruised through Tracy Arm. This is a fjord that ends at a glacier. The boat went up, turned around, and then came back down. It was beautiful scenery--tall cliffs, waterfalls, some seals, and gorgeous icebergs.

I thought the blue of these icebergs was so pretty! I wanted to remember to look for some earrings in that color while we were in town to remind me of the icebergs. But I forgot.

Before we landed in Juneau, we played a hot game of BINGO! Mike and Stacie were the lucky winners of the $500 jackpot!

We didn't take any good pictures in Juneau. I'm hoping that when we pool all our pictures there will be some good ones. It was a fun little town. As tourists, you only really see what they want you to see, so for us, that was the two blocks closest to the pier. So it seems like a quaint little fishing village. But as we were getting back on the ship, some of the crew members walked past us holding Walmart bags, so the idea that it was a town untouched by time was dashed.

Andrew didn't like waiting in line to get back on the ship. He was being loud about it too. Sometimes, there are benefits to having a screaming baby--you get sent right to the front of the line and they even open new doors for you! Unfortunately, they didn't bring Adam up to the front and he had to go through security with all our bags, McDonald's drinks, and umbrellas by himself.
