Road trip! (March 5-6)

We left Saturday morning. We were only slowed down a tiny bit by the dead battery in the car. The suburban we drove had no dvd player in it, and it was sort
of like traveling in the dark ages! Benjamin wasn't really affected by it, since he played his DS for the whole trip.
But Isaac had to resort to using dad's "old iPhone" for his entertainment.
Actually, he probably enjoyed this more than just watching movies. He could play his favorite, Hoggy, and also watch movies. It was awesome. Sometimes he'd switch to music and we would
laugh when we heard him burst into spontaneous song.
Madeleine used Adam's old video iPod to watch some of her movies. It wasn't nearly as fun as the times she convinced Isaac to switch with her so she could use the iPhone. Andrew mostly cried for his entertainment. It may have been fun for him, but it was not fun for everyone else. Actually, he did pretty well, considering he's one and can't really understand what's going on.
We stopped in St. George over night, and walked to the park to let t
he kids blow off some energy. They loved that it was warm enough to not wear a coat.
Madeleine probably posed in front of every cactus we saw.
We got to Newport Beach around 3 and decided to take a little walk along the boardwalk, and out onto the pier. It was a little windy and chilly, but that didn't stop the kids from wanting to go down to the beach.
Andrew thought the sand was awesome! He ran around, and got his little piggie toes wet.
Isaac concentrated on picking up handfuls of sand and then throwing them as he ran in circles.
The sun was setting, and the boys were running on the beach. Almost perfect.
Madeleine sulked the entire time we walked on the pier because she wanted to be down at the beach. I didn't know it was because she planned to go swimming! She actually didn't plan to go swimming, and after she fell in, she was cold and miserable so she cried the whole way back to the car.
Good times!
