All summer long Adam planned, and sketched, and planned and made the best plans in the world for our brand new shed. And commenced to build.
Last week we had our first injury.
He was carrying a piece of plywood, when it slipped and he got a "sliver." I was gone from home with the kids, and when we returned, set up on the kitchen table was a makeshift operating room. I wanted no part of this adventure.
But alas, he needed help. The "sliver" was on his left thumb, just about at the joint. He had been digging around for a while, not really being able to find anything. But since it hurt like heck, he knew SOMETHING was in his thumb. Finally, he gave a push on the end of the "sliver" and HALF AN INCH AWAY the other end poked up.
The kids were banished so we could operate in peace. After a lot of unsuccessful digging with needles, and tweezers, Adam decided the best option was to get an x-acto knife and slice up his thumb along the line of the "sliver" to try and get it free.
Guess whose job it was to slice?
After a few half-hearted attempts to slice, Adam took the knife away from me asking if I was just trying to hurt him. Finally, Adam made a Herculean effort, and just yanked that sliver out.
He said it hurt.

Ouch! I was trying to get a visual when you told us the story of 'THE SLIVER' this weekend but this picture just says it all. That looks painful. You guys are gonna love your shed though!
Ouch! We need to come check out your shed--we're pretty impressed at what a handy-man Adam is.
Ok, that definitely looks like one gnarly splinter! OUCH!
