When we added our den onto the house last year, we ripped up our wood deck. The den only took up half of the deck space, so we needed to do something with the other half. So one day, a semi pulled into our neighborhood and dropped off pallets full of brick pavers, gravel and sand.
Adam spent one very hot Saturday afternoon hauling wheelbarrow after wheelbarrow of dirt in to build the area up to the right level. It was my job to pack it down. So I packed and packed and packed. And packed. When Adam started to level the dirt, he hauled wheelbarrow after wheelbarrow of extra dirt back to where it came from. Did I mention it was a very hot afternoon?

He figured out what design we wanted, and then started laying down the bricks.

Our new patio! It's so nice to have something down so that it's not just a big dirt hole!
