I'm at 53. Thanks mom, for actually having so many of these books that I just plain read them out of boredom while visiting! (Not that it's boring to visit....) And thanks for teaching me to love the written word so much, that now I have so many of these books and my kids may soon read them out of boredom.
*These books, oh my goodness, I wasn't that bored. I started and read for a while and then just couldn't finish. I'm still working on Middlemarch, but I won't try Moby Dick, Catch-22 or Crime and Punishment again. Maybe I'll get the Cliffs Notes to see how they end.

Hmmm...I'm only at 22 (and that's my counting Les Mis, abridged version). I'm very impressed by your 53.
Give me another 30 years and I'll have read about all of them too. Of course, the list may be different by then.
The interesting thing about a lot of these books is, I may have read them a couple of times. Obviously, I've read Jane Austen many times. But books like To Kill a Mockingbird, that you read in school need another time around. I just finished it yesterday actually, and it's such a good book, not at all boring like you think when you read it as a kid.
Wait a minute. Did you actually FINISH Lord of the Flies??

I've read 8. But most of them I can't remember because I was forced to read them in High School and pulled all nighters just to get through it. I'm not a reader. However, there is one book on there that I've read and you haven't: Kite Runner. It was pretty good. At least I've read the same as your hubbie. Now I don't feel so bad. Oh, can we can't them if we watched the movie? That would add another 10 at least!
